Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest, the festival that brings to Romania the most important films of the year, in the presence of important filmmakers, celebrates its 10th anniversary.
This year, the festival will take place from October 18 to 27, in Bucharest, at Cinema PRO, Cinema ElvirePopesco, the Peasant Museum Cinema and other venues and also in other cities in our country.
This year, Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest 10 dedicates one anniversary section to the Romanian actor
Vlad Ivanov. The Section Ivanov 50 will include films which brought him to the attention of the public and of the international film industry and films in which he plays different parts in foreign languages.
After more supporting
roles in Romanian films, he was internationally acclaimed for the main part he played in
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days / 4 luni, 3 săptămânişi 2 zile, the film that received the
Palme d`Or in Cannes in 2007. For the part of Mr.Bebe, Vlad Ivanov received the award for the Best Actor of the Year from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
In the following years Vlad Ivanov returned to Cannes many times. In 2009 with the parts he played in
Police Adjective / Poliţist, adjectiv, directed by
CorneliuPorumboiu, and
Tales from the Golden Age / Amintiri din epoca de aur, directed by
Cristian Mungiu. In 2010 and 2012 he returned with the films
My Joy and
In the fog, directed bySergheiLoznitsa. In 2016, the actor was present in Cannes with parts he played in three films from the official selection:
Graduation / Bacalaureat, by Cristian Mungiu,
Toni Erdmann, by Maren Ade and
Dogs / Câini, by
Bogdan Mirică.
In 2017, Vlad Ivanov received the main male part in the
Magyar film Sunset, directed by László Nemes. The film, which had the world premiere at the prestigious film festival in Venice, where it received the FIPRESCI Critics Award for the Best Film in competition, can be seen in Romania starting with Friday, June 21, distributed by Voodoo Films.
This year, Vlad Ivanov returned to the official competition in Cannes, with the main part he played in CorneliuPorumbiu`s latest film
La Gomera. For this film, the actor learned El Silbo, a whistled non-verbal language, used in the Spanish island LA Gomera. The film will be distributed by Ro Image 2000, starting with September 13, 2019.
