The “Lună Plină” (Full Moon) Horror & Fantastic Film Festival in Biertan will kick off on 25 August and, for four days, it will take its viewers on a “shock and horror” trip all over the world. The horrors will take place at Méliès Garden, Cinema Vertigo and Karloff Hall, but also on “La Țăruș” terrace.
Six feature-length films are in the line-up for the “Lună Plină” Trophy, at its fifth Edition. Spain will claim Méliès Garden, on the very first night of the Festival, with
Mi gran noche/My Big Night, the latest feature by renowned director Álex de la Iglesia, an opportunity for Bacchus-like excesses, satire and histrionic explosions typical for a local televised New Year's Eve. As a rare happening, Romanian is present in the programme with
Vizitatorul/The Visitor, the feature-length debut of
Jamil Hendi, starring Ionuț Grama, Oana Irina-Dușu and Andreea Boșneag in the leading roles. It is an autochthonous horror about a flat with a sombre history and about the couple who move into it.
AaRC was on
The Visitor's set during the shooting and made a feature that may be viewed
here.
In the Danish production
Shelley (directed by Ali Abbasi), screened at Berlinale, a young Romanian woman (played by
Cosmina Stratan) accepts to be a surrogate mother for a couple who can't have children, but things turn out not to be so simple. From India comes
Ludo (directed by Q, Nikon), a bloody story – banned to minors – about four teenagers and a damned game.
Swedish horror movies are cold and unrelenting with their characters. In the multi-award-winner
Sensoria (directed by Christian Hallman), Caroline, already punished in life, wishes f a new beginning and changes flats, when she realises she has not been so alone as she thought or wanted. Argentina tells us about terror in a shrink's office with
Presagio / Omen (directed by Matias Salinas) – the story of a young writer who goes to therapy after the death of his wife and child, only to be catapulted to a hallucinate universe, at the borderline between reality and fantasy.
The shorts competition lines up seven productions competing for the Audience Award, selected by film critic:
Ermida,
Mayday,
La Voce,
Death Sentence,
The Procedure,
Leshy and
Somnul lui Richi/Richi's Dream, by Lari Gligor and Iulian Stanciu.
Because this year marks the 30th anniversary since its release, in the unique Biertan atmosphere, the viewers will be given the opportunity to see again David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly in the iconic
Labyrinth (directed by Jim Henson, 1986). As every year, the unsurpassed, always surprising and addictive
Rocky Horror Picture Show (directed by Jim Sharman, 1975) will wrap up the Festival.
