Film Critics Association 2015 Award for Best Film Journalism

Bucharest International Dance Film Festival 2015

On the first week end of November 2015, Cinemateca Union hosted the first edition of the Bucharest International Dance Film Festival  (Festivalul de Film de Dans București  - BIDFF), the first one of its kind. The event is dedicated to the films that have the choreography as their theme, with the intention of bringing the dance forms and the cinema approaches closer to the public.
The festival had a  competition section. Simona Deaconescu, the artistic director of the Tangaj Dance team made the selection. Simona explained in an interview for AaRC more about what she expected from the festival and about the connection between film and dance.
The awards gala of the BIDFF was on Sunday, November the 8th, followed by the screening of the feature-length documentary Behind the Scenes (Fragile). Cosmin Manolescu, one of its directors, introduced the film to the audience from Cinemateca Union.
The members of the jury were Sarah Möller, Andreea Căpitănescu and Jevan Chowdhury. Three short films were the winners: Su Misura (made by the Augenblick group), received the award for Best Film; Vecinas (Natalia Sardi) received the award for Best Director; a Special Mention was given to the film Kid Birds For Camera (Dylan Crossman and Eric Minh Cuong Castaing).
A dance film workshop held by Jevan Chowdhury was organized before the festival. Anamaria Antoci, the BIDFF manager, told us more about it.
