The National Film Archives celebrates 60 years of existence


     On Thursday, 4 July, from 19:00, the Eforie (Jean Georgescu) Hall of the Romanian Cinematheque of Bucharest (2 Eforie Street) is hosting the Gala “National Film Archives, 60 years”.
     The Gala will be presented by actress Aida Economu and will be followed by the screening, in a new digital copy, of Romanian cinema masterpiece, La moara cu noroc / The Mill of Good Luck (directed by Victor Iliu), released on the year the National Film Archives of Romania was set up.
     Admission to the event will be free of charge, within the limit of available seats.
     The National Film Archives – Romanian Cinematheque (ANF) was established as the National Archives of Cinematography Films (ANFC), a body subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Culture, on 4 July 1957. Therefore, 4 July may be deemed as the Romanian National Film Archives Day.
     The Gala “National Film Archives, 60 years” will be attended by older or newer ANF employees, as well as by friends who have been close to this institution for years or even decades. Within the Gala, Excellency Diplomas will be granted to critics who, through their long-term activity within the National Film Archives – Romanian Cinematheque, contributed to promoting cinema culture in Romania, as well as Honorary Diplomas to the oldest ANF employees.  
     Theatre and film actress Aida Economu is known for recent cinema productions such as Minte-mă frumos în Centrul Vechi / Lie To Me in the Old Town or Chosen, for her performances at Mic and Metropolis Theatres of Bucharest, or at “Jean Bart” Theatre of Tulcea, as well as host of the yearly cinema event “Divan Film Festival”.
