Cinema masterpieces in open-air, in Constanța


       Piața Ovidiu (Ovidiu Square)in Constanța is to host the first edition of Nomad Global Village Open-air Film Festival(9-29 August). 15 cinema all-time masterpieces will be screened, admission being free of charge, to celebrated Constanța town's multicultural heritage.The screenings will start at 21:30 and most of the features are spoken in the city's minorities languages - Russian, Greek, Bulgarian, German. The features cast exceptional actors, such as Anthony Quinn, Nikita Mikhalkov, Harvey Keitel, Birol Unel, Romain Duris, Irene Papas, Claudia Cardinale, Ralph Fiennes or Omar Sharif. Nomad Global Village is a project developed by Metropolis Cultural Association and funded by Constanța Municipality.
     The 15 films to be screened at Nomad Global Village in Piața Ovidiu are as follows:
 
9 August: SOUL KITCHEN, directed by Fatih Akin –Special Jury Award and Young Cinema Award at Venice Film Festival, nominated at European Film Awards.
10 & 28 August: ZORBA GRECUL, directed byMichael Cacoyannis –Winner of 3 Oscars – for Best Scenography, Best Black and White Picture, Best Supporting Actress, and nominated to other 4 categories, 5 nominations to Golden Globes and 2 nominations to BAFTA.
11 & 26 August: GADJO DILO/THE CRAZY STRANGER, directed by Tony Gatlif – Cesar Award for Best Soundtrack. It was the first collaboration between the director and actress Rona Hartner.
12 August: CINEMA PARADISO, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore –Winner of Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, 5 BAFTA Awards, the Grand Prize of the Jury in Cannes.
16 August: MOSCOVA NU CREDE ÎN LACRIMI/MOSCOW DOES NOT BELIEVE IN TEARS, directed by Vladimir Menshov –Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film.
17 August: PRIVIREA LUI ULISE/ ULYSSE’S GAZE, directed by Theodoros Angelopoulos - Grand Prize of the Jury inCannes, nominated at the European Film Academy.
18 August: CU CAPUL ÎNAINTE/ GEGEN DIE WAND/HEAD-ON, directed by Fatih Akin –Winner of the Golden Bear and the FIPRESCI Award at Berlinale, Best Film at European Film Awards.
19& 27 August: VINE FANFARA/ BAND’S VISIT, directed by Eran Kolirin –Winner of Un Certain Regard - Jury Coup de Coeur, FIPRESCI and
Award of the Youth la Cannes, European Film Award forBest Actor
20 August: VIEȚILE ALTORA/ THE LIVES OF OTHERS, directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck – Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film, of European Film Award for Best Film, Best Actor, Best Screenplay.
21 August: SOARE ÎNȘELĂTOR/ BURNT BY THE SUN, directed by Nikita Mikhalkov - Oscar for Best Foreign Film, Grand Prize of the Jury and Prize of the Ecumenical Jury in  Cannes.
22 August: SUNSHINE, directed by István Szabó - European Film Award pentru Best Actor, Best Screenwriter,nominated to 3 Golden Globes.
23 August: REMBETIKO, directed by Costas Ferris – Silver Bear at Berlin International Film Festival.
24 August: VIAȚA E FRUMOASĂ/ LA VITA E BELLA/LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, directed by Roberto Benigni –Winner of 3 Oscars – for Best Foreign Film, Best Leading Actor, Best Soundtrack, nominated to other 4 categories. The Grand Prize of the Jury in Cannes,  Cesar Award for Best Foreign Film, ranked 26th in the most voted films by IMDB.
25 August: FARMEC PERICULOS/ DANGEROUS CHARM, directed by Ivan Andonov.
29 August: MAMA/ MAYRIG (MOTHER), directed by Henri Verneuil.
