The Master of Silence (2021)

129 min. - Dramă - AP 12 - 02.09.2022

A house built in 1925 lives thru the tormented history of an East European country; the witness of times, but also the space that hosts destinies and lives of people.
Today, we see the lodgers – three families; three generations – destroyed by the decision of local mobsters, in league with an international, mysterious, powerful guy to demolish the building.
The house is actually a synecdoche for Romania, and we see struggles, abandonments, treasons and alliances being made in order to achieve immediate goals. A whole class (the aristocracy) is abolished and forgotten. A dominating class (the new money!) is upraising. In the end, everything goes down, and the „future” invades the values of the past, blowing them up. What’s left, it’s just the glamour of power, at the cost of human loss.
