“A Century without the Treasure” – A Right That You Don`t Claim, Gets Lost


     The most recent documentary made by Lucia Hossu Longin, A Century Without the Treasure, had its premiere on Tuesday evening, at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest.
The film presents the history of the Romanian treasure consigned in Moscow during the First World War, following the procedures and mechanisms that the Romanian officials appealed to in the last 26 years in order to bring back the National Bank Treasure. For this film, Lucia Hossu Longin made a few interviews with former Ministers of Foreign Affairs, with historians and other personalities as well. The people speaking of this situation are: Sorin Iftime (historian),Mircea Geoană (Minister of Foreign Affairs, 2000-2004), Ernest Oberländer-Târnoveanu (the director of the National History Museum), Emanuela Cernea (art historian), Cristian Diaconescu (Minister of Foreign Affairs, 2008-2009, 2012), Adrian Năstase (Minister of Foreign Affairs, 1990-1992, Prime Minister 2000-2004), Ioan Talpeș (head of the Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service, 1992-1997), Adrian Severin (Minister of Foreign Affairs 1996-1997) and Ioan Scurtu (historian).
 

     Before the screening and at the discussion that followed, prof.dr. Manuela Cernat, who spoke about the possible film footages sent to Moscow in 1916 and the historian Marius Oprea, who tried to briefly explain the context of the events that led to losing the treasure.
 

   The producer of the documentary is Ada Vertan; the other members of the crew are: Dan Necșulea and Alexandra Orban (screenplay), Dragoș Imireanu and Mihai Oprea (cinemtographers),Sebastain Chelu (editing), Cornel Ciuleanu (sound and mixing post production), Radu Bânzaru and Alexandru Repan (voices).
