TIFF 2017: cine-concert “Metropolis” and “Roar” screening

During the first weekend of the 16th Edition of Transilvania International Film Festival (2-11 June), the programme Week-end at the Castel returns to Bonțida with creative workshops, games and shows for the little ones during the day, and special events for the grown-ups after nightfall.
On 3 and 4 June, Banffy Castle will host the screening of a cult film that put in danger the lives of the actors and crew members, the non-classable Roar (1981), and the cine-concert Metropolis(1927), a mute film masterpiece, whose 90-year anniversary since release is coming up, accompanied lived by the orchestra of the Transilvania State Philharmonic of Cluj-Napoca.
Saturday, 3 June, from 21.45, the viewers will watch Roar on the big screen, the firsand last film directed by Noel Marshall, executive producer of the horror The Exorcist (1973). The production of „the most dangerous movie ever made” lasted for no less than 11 years, and the project almost killed the director and his entire family. It is said that none of the over 150 animals had suffered during the entire process, but over 70 of the crew members and actors did. The film images capture real attacks that caused injuries for which many surgeries were needed.
One of this Edition's unmissable events will be the cine-concert Metropolis, the masterpiece by Fritz Lang made in 1927, accompanied lived by the orchestra of the Transilvania State Philharmonic of Cluj-Napoca, on the original music composed by de Gottfried Huppertz, under the baton of the German conductor Stefan Geiger. On Sunday, 4 June, from 21:45, in the fantastic decor of the Banffy Castle, the futurist dystopia created by the expressionist director Fritz Lang will render new valences through the grand interpretation of the Cluj-based Orchestra.
