Suceava will host the 78th Edition of the UNICA Festival

Between 19 and 26 August, 2016, Suceava will host the 78th Edition of the International Cinema Union (UNICA), which is to bring together non-professional and non-commercial films made by amateur filmmakers or by filmmakers striving to become professionals, from the member countries.
UNICA is an organisation member of the International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication within UNESCO, set up in 1937 in Paris. Romania joined this organisation in 2011, being represented by the Romanian National Cine-clubs Association, and this year our country will host the Union's Festival.
UNICA Festival has also a youth section, generically named Young UNICA, and divided into two categories: 15-19 years old, including high schoolers passionate about film, and 19 – 25 years old, made up of students of film higher institutions within the respective countries.
At this year's edition, at the initiative of the Video Art Club and with the support of the Town Hall of Suceava Municipality, Romania will ensure the accommodation and meals for 30 youngsters from the Union's member countries, who are to attend a training session delivered by industry professionals. This is coming as a concrete expression of our country's desire to further support UNICA.
Over the seven Festival days, at pre-established times, screenings of films from member countries will be held, each nation having an hour at their disposal, as per the regulation of UNICA and according to the lots' drawn order at the previous edition. The screening programme, on countries, will be brought to the knowledge of interested audience in due time.
