In the frame of the International Day for the Commemoration of the Victims of the Holocaust, Friday, Jan 27, 2017, 18h, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Istanbul screens the documentary Tombstones Do Speak: The Jewish Graveyards in Bukovina.

The film was made by the Art Promo Foundation with the support of the Romanian Government through the Dpt of Interethnic Relations and the screening will take place at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Istanbul.
The graveyards of the cities of Tîrgu Neamt, Piatra Neamt, Ștefănești, Botoșani, Hârlău, Rădăuţi, Siret still shelter tombstones of an immense value. Through the richness of their craftsmanship they convey complex symbols, representing zoomorphe symbols, education instruments, Jewish images and the hope in rebirth.
They represented the big and strong Jewish communities that once lived in the area.The production saw the light at the initiative of a Swiss diplomat who saw this Jewish graveyards in Bukovina and edited 2 photo albums on the subject.
The screenplay is signed by Simona Macovei, dr Felicia Waldman(scientific consultant), Florin Costache and Laszlo Kun(DOPs),Carmen Tanase (voiceover) , Al Suciu (sound), Fl Costache(direction), Marius Sorescu (editing),Diana Nitu(executive producer),Ionela Andreescu and Alin Panc(producers).
