The doc tells the story of a ship under Turkish pavilion, with 22 people aboard, which ended aground near the Vadu beach some 54 ago. The only hope for the shipwrecked crew was a helicopter sent on its first-time mission of rescue on the sea. In 1963 the diplomatic relations between the 2 countries weren’t truly positive with Turkey refusing to send a rescue team. His Excellency Omur Solendil, the Turkish Ambassador in Bucharest wanted to thank Romania and the Romanian Television, 50 years after these events, for the re-opening of this historic page and for the Romanians’ contribution to the saving of the 22 Turkish marines’ lives.
They appear in the doc: Ion Tudose, commander aviator/reserve, Sukru Cetiner /captain of the Abdullah ship, Stan Georgescu, mechanic, His Excellency Omur Solendil, Ambassador of The Republic of Turkey in Bucharest, captain Cengiz Karabuber, President of the Captains’ Association, Turkey, Dan Ștefănescu, pilot, manager of the Tuzla Airport.
