Călăuza was launched, a mobile application designed for author films

Metropolis Cultural Association, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, launched Călăuza, the first mobile application designed for author films and addressed to film lovers.
The app may be downloaded on mobile phones and represents a platform made available for festival organisers and independent film distributors, a tool gathering in one place all art films available for viewing in Romania, both in theatres and in alternative venues.
Călăuza is the only app of its kind available in Romania and intends to promote top quality films and the most important events in the cinema industry (festivals, debates, conferences). The users will receive info on the art cinemas' programme and on screenings to be held in unconventional locations, they will be able to vote and send feedback, o book tickets and take part to contests. The filmmakers and event organisers will be able to monitor the audience reaction to their projects.
“The application promotes high-quality films just out of festivals, thus motivating Romanian distributors to offer them to the public. This project gives a higher visibility to quality cinema, the immediate effect being the distributors and dealers re-orienting their options to quality cinema. I think that, in order to have an audience for author films, a joint effort is needed from film distributors and festival organisers. We created this app as a first step in this cooperation,” Metropolis Cultural Association stated.
The app is free and at the moment contains the programmes of KINOdiseea Cluj and Pitești. The event organisers and film distributors are invited to upload their information to Călăuza.
