The “Dimitrie Cantemir” Romanian Cultural Institute in Istanbul is invited at the Izmir International Film Festival (October 30 – November 4, 2018).

The 19th edition of the festival is considered by the film critics as one of the most important, prestigious and acclaimed festivals in Turkey and not only. In 2018 the participants from 67 countries bring 2482 productions for the following categories: animated films, documentaries, experimental and fiction, which will be in competition for the
Golden Cat Awards.
The actress
Ana Ularu accepted the organizers` invitation and will be in Izmir throughout the entire festival, as a member of the jury.
Besides the films in competition, the organizers also prepared a few special sections: the selection of the French Cultural Institute, the

selection of the Euroshort Film, the selecyion of the Busho Film Festival 2017, the selection of the “Dimitrie Cantemir” Romanian Cultural Institute in Istanbul. This one will take place on October 31, 2018, from 15:00, at the French Cultural Institute headquarters.
With the support of the ICR Istanbul, Romania participates as a guest country in a section destined to the Romanian short films – “Romanian Cultural Institute Films”, with 6 productions accepted by the organizers. These are:
Offstage directed by Andrei Huțuleac,
The Beast / Bestia directed by Andreea Lăcătuș,
The Mystery of a Simple Case / Misterul unui caz simplu, directed by
Vera Surățel,
Sterne, directed by Bianca Rotaru
, Amniotic, directed by Bianca Rotaru and
The Apartment / Apartamentul, directed by
Camelia Popa.
The “Dimitrie Cantemir” Romanian Cultural Institute in Istanbul intends to continue promoting the most recent Romanian film productions –
The new wave of the Romanian film and international successes after 1945, in the multi-annual strategy of ICR for 2016-2019.
