From August 28 to December 19, the Retrospective “One Century of Romanian Cinema” will take place in four cities in Andalusia - Almería, Córdoba, Granada and Seville. The project which started in April in Madrid, was initiated by Dacin Sara and it is organized together with the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid, in collaboration with the Andalusia Cinematheque, the Romanian Film Centre and the Romanian Embassy in Spain.

The films list organized in the year of the centenary of the Great Union, includes a selection of 26 feature films that marked the history of the Romanian cinema, from the very first feature film,
The Independence of Romania / Independența României (1912), up to the debut of the directors of the “New Romanian Cinema”. During the three months, 60 screenings will take place in the Andalusia Cinematheque network. The project intends to introduce to the Spanish audience the history of a cinema which is less known, despite the success that this generation of directors have in Spain. The selection focuses around more generations of filmmakers who marked this first century of the seventh art in Romania.
The Spanish viewers will have the opportunity to see films directed by directors such as
Victor Iliu,
Ion Popescu-Gopo,
Liviu Ciulei, Lucian Pintilie,
Radu Gabrea,
Elisabeta Bostan,
Alexandru Tatos,

By its activities, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid supports a better distribution of the Romanian films in the art and commercial cinemas networks in Spain and in Mexico and Argentina.
