TIFF Retrospective at Cinema Elvira Popescu of Bucharest

A selection of 20 films of the 15th Edition of Transilvania International Film Festival's program will be screened between 15 - 19 June at Cinema Elvire Popesco in Bucharest.
Furthermore, in Bucharest will also be screened two of the features by Japanese director, discovered with enthusiasm by TIFF's attendants, within an ample retrospective: Suicide Club (2001) and The Virgin Psychics (2015).
Not to be missed is also the marathon-screening of almost 5 hours of the original series The Accursed, by Hagai Levi. The documentary Ingrid Bergman: In Her Own Words is built up of footage shot by the actress herself with a 16-mm camera, of diary excerpts, letters and archive footage. Other screenings: Mr. Gaga, a spectacular documentary about Ohad Naharin, one of the most innovative choreographers of the world, very well received at TIFF, and Noma: My Perfect Storm, about the famous restaurant Noma in Copenhagen.
Belgica was TIFF 2016 closing film, and the one that brought Belgian director Felix van Groeningen the Best Director Award at Sundance 2016. Au plus près du soleil/Too Close to Our Sun (directed by Yves Angelo) is a film noir about a couple who takes extreme measures to keep away the biological mother of their adopted sun. Tempête/Land Legs (directed by Samuel Collardey) is a touching portrait of a fisherman who tries to change his lifestyle in order to keep the custody of his children, this feature being awarded in Venice.
Théo et Hugo dans le même bateau/ Théo & Hugo in the Same Boat (directed by Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau, Berlin 2016) captures what it means to be a young gay person in Europe in our day and age. The Belgian Je me tue à le dire/Death by Death (directed by Xavier Seron) is an absurd dramatic comedy, black and white, about an hypochondriac young man. Remainder (directed by Omer Fast), adaptation after a British cult novel, is a sophisticated psychological thriller about the role of memory in re-constructing one's identity. In Island City, director Ruchika Oberoi introduces us to current day Mumbai through three stories on alienation and control in modern society.
From EducaTIFF program, dedicated to students, the following will be screened: Blanka, Secret Society of Souptown and In Your Dreams!.
