The award-winning films at the sixth edition of Pelicam – The International Film Festival on Environment and People are coming to Bucharest in a four-day Retrospective at Cinema Elvira Popescu, from 31 August to 3 September. Pelicam 2017 Retrospective will kick off on Thursday, 31 August, at 20.30, with
Planeta Petrila / Petrila Planet (directed by
Andrei Dăscălescu, 2017, Romania), winner of the Black Sea Docs section.
On Friday, from 20.30,
SEED: The Untold Story (directed by Jon Betz &Taggart Siegel, SUA, 2016) will be screened. The Jury made up of five teenagers from Tulcea city decided that the story of those who want to save the future of our food deserves the award of the section Fresh Perspectives.
On Saturday, 2 September, from 19.00,
Kedi / Cats (directed by Ceyda Torun, Turkey/USA, 2016) may be viewed, winner of a special mention at the section Black Sea Docs, and from 21.00, the grand Pelicam 2017 will be screened –
Zona Franca (directed by Georgi Lazarevski, Chile/France, 2016). The Jury made up from Mike and Andy from Yes Men and of artist Ion Barbu decoded that the documentary on the fight of people for the right to resources deserves the award amounting to EUR 2,000 offered by the Tulcea Town Hall.
The last day of the Retrospective scheduled two films, award-winners within the shorts section:
La Pesca (Canada/Columbia, 2017, 22 min.) and
Frontera invisible / Land in Conflict (Argentina/Belgium, 2016, 28 min.). From 20.30, the screening of the film
In Pursuit of Silence (directed by Patrick Shen, SUA/Belgium/China/Germany, 2015) will be held, a meditative documentary about our relation with silence and the impact of noise on our lives, closing the Festival's sixth Edition.
