Pessac Historical Film Festival Retrospective, at the French Institute

Between 12-14 May 2017, the French Institute of Bucharest will host the screenings of the most appreciated films presented at the Festival International du Film d’Histoire de Pessac 2016. It is the first time when this French festival is presented in Bucharest, the event being the result of the partnership between the Pessac Festival and the Râșnov Historical Film Festival, organised by the Mioritics Association.
Held under the theme Culture and Freedom, the festival's screenings were presented to the French viewers in November 2016, and will be seen by the Bucharest-based audience at Cinema Elvira Popescu. The thematic approaches the creators' (artists and culture people) perception on liberty in different historical contexts, from the Age of Enlightenment to the protests in 1968, illustrated both in documentaries, and in author films.
The debates will be attended by the renowned cinematographer Pierre-Henri Deleau (actor, producer, selector, festival director), Dai Sijie (one of the most acclaimed French contemporary novelist and cinematographer), Yves Riou (actor and director), Philippe Pouchain (actor and director), Alain Guédé (journalist and researcher) and François Caillat (professor and producer), alongside Romanian essayists and cinematographers (Adrian Cioroianu, Dan Pița, Irina Margareta Nistor a.s.o).
