Kinedok screenings and debates inside your homes

In May, the new KineDok season will start, with brand new energy, new documentaries and ways of bringing the films closer to the audience in the times of social distancing. The launch will take place online, with the documentary Srbenka,
which can be seen online, on the website https://kinedok.net/ro with the voucher KineDok2020, starting from today, until the end of May, when a discussion with the film director, Nebojša Slijepčević, will take place.
Srbenka watches carefully the preparing of a theatre performance which re-enacts a murder committed for ethnical reasons – Aleksandra Zec, a 12-year-old girl is killed together with her family during the Serbian-Croatian conflicts at the beginning of the `90s. Though the perpetrators were found, they were never convicted. The touching discussions of the actors who are rehearsing bring out hidden ethnical tensions that still persist, even with the young generations, who didn`t go through the conflict that happened back then. The film is a thorough and patient study of the paradoxical way in which prejudices and xenophobia can be transferred in time, making it so much more difficult to eliminate from the collective conscience of a people.
Seven Central and Eastern European countries joined forces for the 6th edition of KineDok. This way, some of the latest and important productions from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary will soon be available to the public in all territories.
