Screening One World Romania, at the “Lighthouse” Summer Garden in Mangalia

On Friday, August 17, 2018, at sunset, the “Lighthouse” Summer Garden from Mangalia will open to the public, 10 years after the last event.
The One World Romania Association, with the support of Mangalia City Hall, organizes the screening of the special screening of the documentary Faces Places (directed by Agnès Varda, JR), one of the Oscar nominated films this year: a film about people and their histories, about how the walls tell stories and the images come to life. And last but not least, it is about the collaboration between a 90 years old film director and a photographer who is three times younger.
The purpose of this event is to bring back to life the summer garden, a space in the heart of the city which even if it hasn`t been used these past few years, it got preserved really well, having a real potential of hosting similar other events.
During the summer, the educational programme One World Romania in School organizez screenings of documentary films in unconventional spaces, from courtyard of friends and collaborators to unused spaces in small, middle and large towns, in order to bring attention to the need of having cultural spaces, but also to start discussions on topics that are current nowadays.
The films that will be screened speak from different perspectives about the changes that take place in the world and about the onew that we want: changes of the cities, buildings, social structures, people and ideas, changes that are our concern and that we can influence.
The garden will be opened from 19:00. The film screening will start at 20:30 and the access is free.
