The original HBO Europe series, produced entirely in Romania,
Umbre / Shadows, is returning with a new season. Before its fall premiere on HBO and HBO GO, the first episode will have a preview screening on 8 June, in Cluj-Napoca, at Transilvania International Film Festival.
The second season is written by screenwriter and director
Bogdan Mirică, winner of the FIPRESCI and Gopo Awards for his debut feature film,
Câini / Dogs. The 6 episodes of the second season were directed by Bogdan Mirică and
Igor Cobileanski.
The end of the first season left Relu (
Şerban Pavlu) at a moment when, in order to escape the complicated mess he was in, he struck a deal with Toma (
Dorel Vişan) – head of Constanța mafia – to liquidate Căpitanu’ (the Captain) (
Doru Ana). But once he finds out that his daughter, Magda (
Mădălina Craiu), is waiting a baby from Teddy (
Gabriel Huian), the Captain's son, will Relu still be able to keep his promise, and what consequences will his decisions have? To make things even more complicated, another player is added to the equation, Emilian, a cop with a volatile personality, who has the shield of law to commit illegal deeds.
The screening of the first episode at Transilvania International Film Festival will be attended by directors Bogdan Mirică and Igor Cobileanski, by
HBO and Multi Media Est producers, as well as a part of the series' actors, Șerban Pavlu,
Maria Obretin,
Andreea Vasile,
Sergiu Costache, Doru Ana, Mădălina Craiu, Gabriel Huian, Silvana Mihai.
The executive producers of the SHADOWS series is Wayne Henry, and the producers are Alina David, HBO, and Dragoș Vîlcu, Multi Media Est. Steve Mathews and Antony Root are executive producers with HBO Europe. Season 2 will be premiered this fall in the 19 countries part of HBO Europe.
