Premiul pentru publicistică 2015 al Asociaţiei Criticilor de film

“First Night” winner of the national competition at Filmfest Dresden

Prima noapte / First Night (directed by Andrei Tănase) won the Big Prize of the National Competition at the 29th Edition of Dresden International Shorts Festival – Filmfest, one of the most important European festival dedicated to shorts. The Romanian-German co-production took home the trophy amounting to EUR 20,000, granted by the Ministry for Science and the Fine Arts Promotion of the Land of Saxony.
“A specia moment in the life of a young man. A moment we would have imagined totally different. And the young man, helpless, overreacts. The director reveals with much sensitivity the fragility of male identity during the growing up period, and peeks from time to time at a particular social environment. A film who authentically captures a moment. A film which stays with you,” Filmfest Dresden jury motivated their decision.
The plot of the film is short, but its complications are multiple. Alex's birthday is coming up and his father, Călin, prepared a very special surprise for him: a first night of love with a girl. The cast stars: Alfredo Minea, Cristiana Luca, Mimi Brănescu and Elvira Deatcu.
Last year, First Night also competed for the Best Short Trophy at the Orizzonti section of the Venice Festival. The film is an independent short, co-produced by Deutsche Exotik Filmproduktion GmbH, Libra Film Productions, Commitet and ARTE/ SWR Germany.
