The Romanian documentary Festival awarded the most appreciated productions during the closing gala that took place on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

The jury of this edition offered distinctions to nine of the 27 films of the competition sections, at the end of a week that included tens of screenings, special events and exhibitions dedicated to the documentary.
The Docuart fest Trophy was awarded for the first time to a student documentary, signed by József Bán –
The Wedding
of the Year / Nunta anului. The documentary shows the reality of the Oaș people who work abroad and who comeback home every August, only to leave again their houses that are still in construction.
In the main section, the documentary
people and Cows / Oameni și vaci, co-directed by Vargyasi Levente and Bányai Péter, received a Special Mention. The active way of using the sound design brought József László the Best Editing Award for
Abandoned spaces / Spații abandonate. The jury considered that the Best Cinematography Award is best deserved by
Marius Iacob, for
I Am Hercules / Eu sunt Hercule. The Best Director Award

was received by
Alexandru Mavrodineanu for his film,
Caisă, for his effort of following the life of two characters for a long period of time.
In the student section, the debutants` merits were acknowledged and the Special Mention went to Andrei Olănescu, for his short film
A Christmas Story / Poveste de Crăciun, that the jury considered as an audio-video experiment, faithful to an

original perspective. The award for the Best Student Documentary went to Andreea Știliuc for
My Father, Imre / Tatăl meu, Imre, for her documenting the story of one of the most appreciated Magyar photographers.
In the TV documentary section, A Special Mention was received by the director Dite Dinesz, for documenting the disappearing of the last villages of Romania in
Life is A Path / Viața e o potecă, and the Best TV Documentary Award was received by the production
Brașov 1987. Two Years too Early / Brașov 1987. Doi ani prea devreme. The director Liviu Tofan presents the story of the first big protest before the Revolution.
