Cinepub Premiere: “The 11th Commandment” by Mircea Daneliuc

Cinepub launches a new online premiere, A unsprezecea poruncă / The 11th Commandment (directed by Mircea Daneliuc).
The action takes place during the last days of WWII. All persons resembling Hitler, Eva Braun, Goebbels, Bormann or other nazi leaders are arrested and taken to a camp so that the real fascist criminals be discovered and punished. Thus starts the long, nightmarish year of these individuals who will suffer for unproven crimes. They will live in a total isolation from the real world, living a life of hell.
Written during the communist regime, free adaptation after Paul Goma’s book The Passions after Pitesti, “Daneliuc’s film represented a terrifying point of view on terror exercised wherever and whenever in time”. (Titus Vîjeu, Monsieur l’Auteur - or the Lonely Wolf of Romanian Cinema)
“A film at the crossroads of history, visionary but less viewed, was closing, immediately after the Revolution, the trilogy of Death ((GlissandoIacobThe 11th Commandment) which outshone that of Hope (Cursa / Long Drive, Probă de microfon / Microphone Test, Croaziera / The Cruise), announcing the last big chapter of Daneliuc’s work, the trilogy of  Disgust (Patul conjugal / The Conjugal Bed, Această lehamite / This Fed Up, Senatorul melcilor / The Snails’Senator),” says Lucian Georgescu.
