The VOD platforms such as Netflix, HBO GO and Disney Plus are on an ascending trend during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the people must keep the social distance and stay inside their homes.
Variety says that
Disney Plus reached 5 million new downloads in Great Britain and in Europe after the regional launch in March 24, 2020. The publication mentions that these figures don`t coincide with the number of the Disney Plus paying subscribers, but they indicate good perspectives for the company.
The
Netflix shares shot up to 8.4% the last few days, according to Variety, after the drop the company suffered at the middle of March, because of the crisis caused by Covid-19. The analysts consider that Netflix has a big potential to become one of the few entertainment companies to see gains amid the pandemic, as millions of people are homebound and looking for a diversion.
HBO representatives also report a significant burst of viewing on the VOD platform of the company, in the US territories.
HBO and Netflix are available in Romania as well. The two platforms offer their viewers both international productions and Romanian films. HBO Europe is the co-producer for more TV series, documentaries and local fiction films, which can be watched online on HBO GO.

TIFF Unlimited, Mubi România, Dafilms – Your Online Documentary Cinema,
Cinepub.ro – Romanian films online.
Bad Unicorn also offers - in the VOD system on Vimeo - some of the films distributed in Romania.
