series of online events and screenings.
First of all, the OWR Cineclub will open again, in a formula made of live, online filmmakers and the streaming of some important films in their career. The first Cineclub edition will focus on the early work of the French filmmaker Dominique Cabrera.
From May 1 st to May 15, three of her films will be available on the Eventbook platform: Chronique d'une banlieue ordinaire (France, 1992), Une poste à la Courneuve (France, 1994) and Demain et encore demain, journal 1995 (France, 1995). The tickets cost 10 lei and 5 lei.
In parallel, the festival organizes a retrospective of the films screened during the OWR Cineclub.
From May 1 until May 30, three films grouped under the theme “the transition period of the Eastern Block, from Communism to capitalism” will be available on the Eventbook platform: Spermull (directed by Helke Misselwitz, Germany, 1991), After Winter Comes Spring / Winter ade (directed by Helke Misselwitz, Eastern Germany, 1988) and Locked-up Time / Verriegelte Zeit (directed by Sybille Schönemann, Germany, 1990).
Waiting for the moment when the screenings in the country will be possible, KineDok launches online with the Croatian documentary Srbenka. Screened during the OWR 2019 competition, the film explores the Serbian-Croatian tensions in a unique perspective, by documenting the preparation of a theatre performance which re-enacted a crime committed because of ethnical reasons in the `90s. The film will be available online starting with May 10. On May 28, a live discussion will take place with the film director Nebojša Slijepčević.
Then, starting with June, “The OWR 13 Waiting Room” will be inaugurated online. Once every two weeks, there will be live discussions with some of the special guests of the 13th edition of One World Romania (Ross McElwee, Claire Simon, Radu Jude and many more). On this occasion some of their films will be screened.
