Changes to funding sources for the Cinematography Fund


     A percentage of 2% of all funds collected to the State Budget from companies carrying out gambling operations will be directed yearly to the Cinematography Fund.
     The initiative belongs to the liberal deputy Gigel Știrbu, former Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies. The Minister of Culture took part in drafting the final text of law, which is available here. This change brought to Article 13, letter e, under Ordinance 39/2005 on financing the Cinematography Fund was passed on 10 May, within the Tuesday session of the Chamber of Deputies.
     The full text voted by the Chamber of Deputies goes as follows: “A percentage of 2% of the funds collected by the State Budget from companies carrying out gambling operations will be directed yearly to the Cinematography Fund, for the purposes of encouraging and supporting the cinema industry. The amount will be transferred to the Cinematography Fund until 31 May of this year, for the preceding year, and will not be subject to adjustment, according to the provisions under Article 66, paragraph 1 under the Public Finances Law no. 500/2002, as amended and supplemented.”
