The Great Picnic 6 at the Mogoșoaia Domain, between July 26 and 28

Very funny, incredibly beautiful, sensitive and then brutal, deliciously smart and sometime perfect, the short films from the Great Picnic from this year will stay with you long after the screening is over. You watch them from the hammocks and from the picnic blankets, but where they take them – that is a totally different adventure.
At the Great Picnic you are a member of the jury and you can choose the best film of the event, which will be rewarded with a 1,500 Euro award. The voting is made digitally, on www.shortsup.ro/competitie - if you have a phone or a tablet handy. The ShortsUP Audience Award Trophy is a very desired one, take your mission seriously!
The Great Picnic 6 is hosted by the Mogoșoaia Domain and the tickets are available on Eventbook.ro and in the Humanitas bookshops. If the weather is not favorable for the event and for the open-air screenings, the Big Picnic will be rescheduled for August.
The event opens on Friday, July 26, from 18:00 and continues on Saturday and Sunday (July 27 and 28), starting from 12:00.

Some of the things you can watch at the Great Picnic are:

Animal Behaviour (David Fine, Alison Snowden, Canada, 2018)
A leech who suffers from separation anxiety, a pig with eating disorder, an obsessive-compulsive cat and some other adorable characters have a group therapy session. That`s normal…right?...just like us. Or maybe…it`s the other way around? Obviously, there is not only one answer. The animation was nominated for the Oscars.

Alternative Math (David Maddox, USA, 2017)
Even the gods fight helplessly against stupidity: for the stupid ones, reason becomes radical liberalism and the logic – fascism. This is a biting comedy that alludes to anti-Darwinists, mass-media and populist politicians; and if there were any shadow of a doubt about the geographical positioning, the president of the council has an unmistakable hairstyle.

Vihta (François Bierry, France/Belgium, 2018)
How far would you go to keep your job? But what or who is in danger – the job or you? Five Belgian farmers, serious and worried, one exclusive nudist wellness center and a new boss, a bit too enthusiastic get to interact in a way that becomes more and more bizarre, but awfully funny as well.

Nefta Football Club (Yves Piat, France/Tunis, 2018)
In a Tunisian village, the children play football directly on a wasteland. A donkey with headphones on his ears and bags full of an uncertain load is about to change that. Though she is not on the soundtrack, Adele is vital for the film. You`ll see why. The best comedy at Aspen Shortsfest

Einstein-Rosen (Olga Osorio, Spain, 2016)
Summer of 1982. Teo (5y.o) claims he has found a wormhole – the time travelling tunnel, scientifically known as the Einstein-Rosen bridge. His brother doesn`t believe him – at least not for now. But Teo has the time. Plenty of time. 35 years, one month and 4 days.

The Last Schnitzel (Kaan Arici, Ismet Kurtulus, Denmark, 2017)
When the president of the Grand Turkish Republic demands a schnitzel before allowing any Turks to leave the vanishing earth, his helpless assistant Kamil must come up with fried meat, despite the chickens being dead for over 200 years. But nobody cares.

Mind My Mind! (Floor Adams, Netherlands/Belgium, 2019)
When you count on the social scenarios in order to survive the urban jungle, it`s not at all easy to improvise. Especially if you are an intelligent introvert, passionate about the German bombers, but you still want to go on a date with a girl. And not only then – we all found ourselves in the perfect scenes – and we wish you the same! The 2D hand-drawn animation, selected for the Tribeca Film Festival was also the winner of the Audience Award at Anima.
