The application deadline for the “Alex. Leo Șerban” fellowship given by the Conceptual Lab platform at the 19th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival, was extended until March 27, 2020.
The value of the fellowship destined to the filmmakers who are at their first or second feature film, to the film journalists and critics is of 2,500 Euro worth. The ones who are interested should send their CVs, a letter of intent and the description of their work in process projects at https://tiff.ro/inscrieri-bursa-alexleo-serban.
The main requirement is that the applicants of the 6th edition of the Fellowship should be 35 years old at the most. The projects that can be submitted are feature films – fiction or documentary, in development or in pre-production and editorial projects focusing on cinema (book, magazine, website, vlog, blog, etc).
“I am glad to attach our name again to the Transilvania International Film festival, the most prestigious film event in Romania. I am happy to continue this partnership with TIFF and to discover new projects that need our support. Another reason to be happy about is the fact that this year the platform that we created with the purpose of helping the artistic initiatives in Romania celebrates half a decade. 2020 represents the third year in which Conceptual lab supports giving the “Alex Leo Serban” Fellowship and in a time when the cultural field is under intense pressure, it need even more support” Theo Nissim, the founder of Conceptual Lab said.
Besides the Fellowship, a special mention worth of 1,000 Euro – offered by Conceptual Lab and TIFF – will reward the performance of a Romanian actor who is younger than 35 years old and who made himself/herself noticed in a short film or feature film released in 2019. Last year Alex Bogdan, received this Special mention for the part he played in I Do not Care If We Go Down in History as barbarians / Îmi este indiferent dacă în istorie vom intra ca barbari (directed by Radu Jude). This is the fourth year in a row when Concept Lab will offer the Best Actor Award.
The “Alex Leo Șerban” Fellowship was started in 2012 by the Romanian Film Promotion Association and Romanian Film Initiative. Last year the award went to Lina Vdovîi for her documentary project Il Bel Canto. The editorial Special mention was given to Iosif Prodan for dokumentar.ro.
