Call For Entries For the 2018 fARAD Lab

The fARAD Lab returns to the Arta Cinema in Arad from October 2 to 7, 2018, during the festival with the same name. Internationally acclaimed documentary filmmakers will be the mentors of the young professionals that will take part in the intensive workshops of the Lab. The deadline for your submissions is September 5, 2018.
The 2018 fARAD Lab includes feedback sessions with the special guests of the festival about the participants` projects in development, a practical workshop held by Dana Bunescu with the theme “The sound of the documentary as part of the creative vision” and a seminar on the music in the documentary film held by Tristan Ferland Milewski, the director of the film Dream Boat and DJ My Name is Claude, the composer of the music of the same film.
The fARAD Lab allows the connecting of the participants to a professional support network and a permanent mentorship from some highly respected professionals of the documentary film industry. “It`s a sort of Hogwarts” Lucian Mircu (a participant to the 2017 fARAD Lab) says.”An (almost) secret school of initiation into witching films. I strongly recommend it to any youngperson at the beginning of the road. A lab concentrated on the essence and on the good quality interaction with the tutors and with the colleagues. I think this is a great privilege and opportunity to have so many qualified people in the same room who offer feedback to your documentary, which is in the work-in-progress stage.”
Dana Bunescu is the most famous film editor of the new wave of the Romanian cinema (in 2017 she received the Silver Bear in Berlin for the editing of the film Ana, mon amour, directed by Călin Peter Netzer). Among the mentors of the previous editions of the lab, we mention Erin Casper (USA), Magnus Gertten (Sweden), Pascale Lamche (Great Britain), Alexandru BelcTitus MunteanVlad Petri, alongside the creative team of the festival represented by the artistic director Mona Nicoară, the film critic Mihai Chirilov and the president of the festival, Corina Șuteu.
A unique experience in Romania, the fARAD Lab is partially shaped after the Sundance labs, Independent Filmmaker Project and IDFA. This year, the third edition is organized in partnership with BRD Groupe Société Générale.
The fARAD Documentary Film festival was launched in 2014, following the initiative of Corina Șuteu and of Film ETC., in collaboration with the Arad Culture City Center. The festival is under the patronage of the Arad City Hall and it is produced and curated by the Film ETC Association (Oana Radu is the general producer and Mihai Chirilov is the programming consultant) in partnership with 111 Film (Eugen Lumezianu). Mona Nicoară is the festival artistic director.
