The Script Contest is organized by the Association for the Romanian Film Development and it aims to support the development of the Romanian film industry and of the screenplays that are worth getting to the big screens of the festivals around the world. TSC is the only contest destined to the short film screenplays in Romania.

TSC opened the gates of its third edition on Thursday, November 15, 2018 and this time it brings a new format, which is more demanding for the screenwriters, but it is musch better outlined. For the first time, besides the jury made of three professionals, there will be a pre-selection committee, which will decide the nine screenplays that will be in the finals.
The pre-selection committee is made of:
Laura Mușat (producer/ADFR founder/project manager TSC) and Alexandra Safriuc (screenwriter/project manager SH Masterclasses/Director Artistic ShortsUp). The members of the jury will be announced every two weeks, until the end of the year, on the official TSC website page.
The winners of the first edition were a comedy screenplay and a thriller one
– Iulia D. Popa (
Odihnească-se în pace) and Vlad Ghinea (
Thirst /
Sete). The theme of the second edition was Portrait of a world on the verge of extinction and the winner was Alexandra Suciu (
The journey of the Polar Bears through the Desert / Călătoria urșilor polari în deșert). The winning projects of the first editions are already travelling the festivals and
The journey of the Polar Bears through the Desert is currently in pre-production.
The members of the jury of the previous editions were:
Ana Ularu (actress),
Iulia Rugină (film director), Florin Lăzărescu (screenwriter), Massimiliano Nardulli (festival programmer), Laura Mușat (producer), Alexandra Safriuc (screenwriter/project manager SH Masterclasses/Director Artistic ShortsUp) and
Paul Negoescu(film director).
The award is made of 500 Euro and of the film production. The money is offered only to those screenwriters who will not also be the film director.
This year, the projects can be submitted to The Script Contest from November 15, 2018 until January 6, 2019. The submissions will be made on the f
ilmfreeway platform and the participation fee is of 10 Euro. Besides the screenplay, the participants should submit a synopsis as well. The regulations and the selection criteria can be found both on

On January 21, 2019 the 9 finalists will be announced on the TSC facebook page and on March 1, 2019, the winner will be announced.
