
The second edition of the
HipTrip Travel Film Festival took place this autumn between the 8th and 11th of October. The films were screened in the two locations of the Romanian Cinematheque – Eforie Cinema Hall and Union Cinema Hall.
The festival included both travel diaries made by amateurs filmmakers and documentaries, such as
In Transit, directed by Albert Maryles, films like
Taxi, made by the Iranian folm director afar Panahi, or commercial productions such as
The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which closed the festival.
The selection was split into three parallel sections: “Focus: India”, “Explorers” and Romanian short films. As part of this category, the short films that were screened were the following:
A trip to the city (2003, directed by Corneliu Porumboiu
), Hello Kitty (2011, directed by Millo Simulov),
Ela, Panda and Madam (2013, directed by Andrei Răuțu),
Chicken, fries and a Coke (2012, directed by Emanuel Pârvu) and
The Trip (2013, directed by Adrian Sitaru)
“The Explorers” included two Romanian films:
Heading North following the Ural and Kamaz trails (directed by George Oprea), about the first Romanian team that reached the far North of Siberia and the
Explorer (2013, directed by Titus Muntean and Xantus Gabor) about Emil Racoviță, the pioneer of exploring life in Antarctica.
Besides the screenings, the event included two workshops led by special guests.
