Dance films, presentations and conferences at BIDFF 2016

The second edition of Bucharest International Dance Film Festival is to be held between 9-13 November, 2016.
The event is dedicated to dance productions made by world-wide choreographers, film directors and artists.
This year, BIDFF will screen dance films (in and off competition), will organise presentetions and conferences delivered by the guests, as well as a digital art exhibition.
The National Dance Centre, the National Music University, “I.L. Caragiale” National Theatre and Cinema University of Bucharest, Galateca Gallery and Club Control will host the festival's main events.
This year's edition theme is the digital body, an emotional, geo-political and multi-sensorial body that forces the contemporary reality barriers and urge the audience toward a ludic reaction. The festival invites the audience to explore and discover the body in extreme situations.
The official competition of Bucharest International Dance Film Festival is focused on installations and short films (fiction, animation, documentary) that force the corporeal barriers. The awards granted amount to EUR 2,000. The off-competition programme will screen fiction and documentary films.
The festival will open on Wednesday, 9 November, with Intermedia Body, a conference on innovation and new dance technologies coordinated by Mihaela Kavdanska. The event will be held at the National Music University of Bucharest (UNMB) – Auditorium Hall, being co-organised by Avmotional Platform and the Electro-acoustic and Multimedia Music Centre of UNMB.
This year's edition also proposes the international exhibition Digital Body – comprising digital art works on the way the body adapts to the informational chaos era. The preview day will be held on Wednesday, 9 November, from 19:00 at Galateca Gallery. The exhibition will be open to the public during the entire duration of the festival.
The second day of festival is dedicated to the confluences between body, sound and video through a series of workshops and presentations. The Masterclass “The chicken or the egg?” delivered by Spanish director Alex Pachon, at UNATC, will focus on issues related to the relation between music and dance within a choreographic process destined for shooting.
The presentation by Claudiei Hart (SUA) with Galateca Gallery will focus on avatar bodies' creation in contemporary performance.
Bucharest International Dance Film Festival is to open the film screenings' series with a special retrospective “Fragments on sense and senz (sensorial)”, a research project on the life of the Romanian dance lady - Miriam Răducanu, on Friday, 11 November, from 18:00, at the National Dance Centre.
Also on 11 November, one of the trendiest choreographers of the moment, winner of Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale, Chris Haring, will share his work method with the audience.
Saturday, 12 November, will be the day dedicated to the shorts and dance installations official competition. Of the over 1,000 entries, BIDFF 2016 will present a rigorous selection of films depicting motion as progressive reflexion and attitude medium. The screenings will be held at the Music University of Bucharest - Experimental Opera and Multimedia Studio.
