The Venice Film Festival rules out digital option

The Venice Film festival is forging ahead with preparations for this year`s edition (September 2-12), despite the coronavirus concerns and uncertainties. The organizers announced that the possibility that the festival could go digital (at least not in its entirety) is ruled out.
“The Venice Film Festival cannot be replaced by an online event”, a Venice spokesman told Variety. He added that “there is obviously the possibility that we use technology for some initiatives” but noted that at present “it`s too early for this to be decided.”
Venice, which is considered the oldest film festival in the world, announced in January that the actress Cate Blanchett would preside over its 77th edition.
