EUNIC London – “Diplomat of the Year” t the cultural diplomacy section

Early this week, the “Diplomat of the Year” Awards were conferred on in London, granted by the prestigious magazine The Diplomat, following the vote by the diplomatic community of the British capital city.
The award for cultural diplomacy – included for the first time in the record of the 10 awards rewarding the most significant contributions to the London diplomacy life – was detachedly won by EUNIC London, the association of foreign cultural institutes in London.
The acknowledgements were delivered by Dorian Branea, director of ICR London, former chairman of EUNIC London (2012-2014) and the coordinator of the campaign that convinced the London diplomates to reward the association, the biggest EUNIC cluster of the world, „for their outstanding contribution to raising awareness about the cultures of the countries with diplomatic representation in the Great Britain”. The vote in favour of EUNIC London, as Venetia de Blocq van Kuffeler, Editor-in-Chief of The Diplomat magazine, stated, was overwhelming.
The director of ICR London said that the award, granted in the very year when EUNIC London celebrates 10 years of existence, is honouring both the over 30 cultural institutes and embassies that are making up the cluster, and the numerous British partners who contributed to the development of EUNIC projects and programmes.
ICR London is a founding member of EUNIC London, and has been involved over the years in most of the permanent projects and programmes of the association, directly coordinating, among others, the programme “EUNIC London International Conference on Cultural Diplomacy”.
