Blestemul ariciului/The Curse of the Hedgehog (directed by Dumitru Budrala), one of the most valued Romanian documentary features, explores the day to day reality over 5 years, of a poor Roma family, looking beyond the superficial image created by the press.
The film captures a cruel reality, the peregrination of Roma people during winter, from one village to the other, in their fight for survival. Director Dumitru Budrala opposes the numerous existing prejudices and clichés, proposing a subtle, fragile approach to Roma people, who have a different life philosophy, and their own rules and beliefs according to which they live their life.
The Curse of the Hedgehog had an impressive festival circuit, being selected by prestigious festivals from Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. The screening scheduled on Thursday, 9 June, at 19:00, at Astra Film Cinema (Piața Mică, no. 11) will be followed by a Q&A session. The price of a ticket is RON 6. The tickets will be available for sale 30 minutes before the screening.
