Documentaries on ethnic minorities at ICR Vienna

On the National Minority Day, the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) in Vienna and the Embassy of Romania in Vienna is presenting on 16, 20 and 21 December, from 18.00, at the headquarters of ICR Vienna, three feature films: Paşaport de Germania/German Passport (2014, directed by Răzvan Georgescu), Aliyah DaDa (2015, directed by Oana Giurgiu) and Dui Rroma (2014, directed by Iovanca Gaspar).
German Passport tells the story of the most ample flesh trade in 20th Century Europe: the organised, systematic trade of the entire German population in Romania towards the Federal Republic of Germany.
Aliyah DaDa it is an incursion in the history of Jews in Romania, of the relationship sometimes absurd, and sometimes paradoxical between the Romanian and the Jews, as a surreal tableau built visually through a series of collages, joining together the historic context with individual memories and histories.
Dui Rroma, the documentary by Romanian-Austrian director of Roma ethnicity, Iovanca Gaspar, reveals the story of the life of Hugo Höllenreiner (1933, München ‒ 2015, Ingolstadt), member of the Sinti population of Germany, who survived several concentration camps and was the victim of Josef Mengele's experiments. The film is made as a dialogue with the young Roma composer Adrian Gaspar, originating from Romania and author of the Oratorio entitled intitulat „Synphonia Romani – Bari Duk“, inspired by the experience of Hugo Höllenreiner. Adrian Gaspar is also signing the sound track of the documentary. In 2013, Hugo Höllenreiner was awarded the Austrian Prize for the Holocaust Memory - Austrian Holocaust Memorial Award (AHMA). The production Dui Rroma got the Award of the Austrian Television for the Education of Adults in 2015.
The screening of the documentary Dui Rroma will be made with musician Adrian Gaspar attending.
The presentation of the features Aliyah DaDa and Dui Rroma is part of the series of cultural events marking the Romanian chairmanship to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).
