In TIFF 2017 (2-11 June) image campaign, three of the iconic Hollywood monsters are insinuating into the Cluj city inhabitants' quiet lives in three spots made, for the fourth consecutive year, by the Romanian-British artists Anton and Damian Groves, after a concept created by the TIFF team.

Starting from the idea that the city of Cluj-Napoca has the potential to become again a huge film set, like at the beginning of the 20th Century when the sets of Jenő Janovics produced tens of silent movies, TIFF carried on the story of Cluj as a film town, which it developed so abundantly last year.
“This year's campaign started from a simple idea, but with a fantastic visual potential: cinema monsters are attacking Cluj. We are talking here about iconic creatures from the so-called monster movies, which make their appearance, thanks to special effects, in several of Cluj's emblematic places, reproducing classical snapshots familiar to the genre lovers,”
Mihai Chirilov, TIFF artistic director, stated.
The heroes of the three video clips are actors well-known to the broader audience. Flavia Hojda,
Olimpia Melinte and
Crina Semciuc are playing dangerously sailing in a boat on a lake in
Jaws at Casino, while actors
Emilian Oprea and Ovidiu Crișan are undergoing a totally strange experience after eating cabbage à la Cluj in
Alien at Vărzărie, and Alfredo Minea connects the second and the third clips of the series, the latter being the one where Mădălina Ghenea, the star of the TIFF 2017 poster, is kidnapped by King Kong from her hotel room and taken to Piața Unirii.
