The selection process for the Romanian documentary film festival București Docuart Fest 2016 was finalised.
Within the 3 competition sections (main, student and TV documentary) 25 titles were included, available for viewing between 27 September - 2 October, at Eforie Cinematheque and at the Romanian Farmers Museum Cinema. The list of films included in the Docuart programme is published on the official

“I already knew that a lot of documentaries are made in Romania, but I was still surprised by the large number of entries. We had where to choose from and this is reflected in the final selections – all sections were well represented, the quality was increased especially in the student sections and TV productions. If in other years, most of the documentaries entered were observational, to the point that I had to declare myself fed up with them, this year I saw a lot of rockumentraries, hybrid documentaries, and unclassifiable investigation and essays. We have confirmations and revelations. Anyway, the Festival's 6 screening days will validate the vitality of this genre, unfairly neglected until now here,” Anca Grădinariu, film critic and member of the preselection commission stated.
The official selection was made up out of over 70 documentaries entered this spring, being made by a preselection jury including film critics
Mihai Fulger,
Anca Grădinariu and Florin Barbu.
Outside the competition, another 20 screenings will be held, as well as debates, master-class sessions and other activities to be announced.
București Docuart Fest is organised by Docuart, and is co-funded by the Ministry of Culture through the Accces programme, together with the National Filmmaking Centre following the selection to funding contests.
Admission will be free of charge.
