The “Brâncuși year” brought many events dedicated to the sculptor; many of them were backed by the Romanian Cultural Institute. The first edition of the Bucharest Art Film Festival, organized by the Docuart Association and the Romanian Cultural Institute and financed by the Romanian Filmmakers Union was dedicated to Brâncuși. The festival opened with an edit of the silent footages made by the sculptor himself inside his workshop in Paris, collected and offered by the Pompidou Center. The screening was accompanied by the music especially composed by MirceaTiberan for this film.
The documentaries about Brâncuși were made along time: Brâncusior the school of looking, made in 1972 by the director Jean Pradinas on a screenplay written by Marin Sorescu, The Column or a Lesson on the Infinite, directed by Laurențiu Damian in 2002, In Search of the Lost Father, made by IonuțTeianu în 2015, ManaseRadnev and ConstantinChelba`sThe Wisdom of the Earth (1991) and Brâncuși (1996) made by Cornel Mihalache.
The campaign for the acquisition of the sculpture “The Wisdom of the Earth” by the Romanian state with the contribution of the citizens opened a strong debate that the representatives of the advertising companies from Romania were also a part of.
In the space offered by the Romanian Peasant Museum, some object-clothes were displayed, Endless Dress, created by Alina Gurguță with motifs from Brâncuși`s works.
Bucharest Art Film Festival intended a program dedicated to the art documentaries or about art, and thus it was possible the screening of the short film One Step to Eternity (2016) directed by Alexandru Maftei la Casa Storck and of the film King Rodin (2013) made by Alain Fleischer.
