The Aristoteles Workshop, the documentary workshop which produced tens of films awarded at prestigious festivals opened the submission period for its 14th edition. The submission form can be found on the
https://www.aworkshop.org website. The deadline is June 1, 2019.

This year, the Beliș village in the Cluj county will host the event dedicated to the film directors, cinematographers and editors interested in studying and creating documentary films, under the guidance of some experts in the field. Placed at the base of the Vlădeasa massif of the Apuseni Mountains, the area will represent a true playground for the 12 filmmakers who will be in Romania for 5 weeks. From August 1 to 31, 2019, the participants will work in four teams and will go through all the

stages of the film making, from choosing the topic until the post-production of the documentary and up to the attending its first screening in front of an audience.
The eligible people are the young filmmakers with film studies, or with a minimum experience in the film/video production, who speak English fluently and who are interested in their personal and professional development and who are willing to go beyond their limits and to go through an entire creative process that could change their life.
Aristoteles Workshop (AW) was created in 2006 by the film producers Dan Nuțu and Cristina Hoffman, with the support of the Arte French-German TV station, in order to support a new generation of documentary filmmakers, with a previous experience in film or video production. The program offers the participants a triple benefit: to learn, to produce a film and to be promoted as a filmmaker.

Among the filmmakers who enjoyed the AW experience during the years, we can mention
Adina Pintilie(
Touch Me Not), the director who received the Golden Bear in Berlin, in 2018; she graduated the workshop with the multi-awarded film
Don`t get Me Wrong / Nu te supăra, dar…
From the first edition of the Aristoteles Workshop until today, more than 150 participants produced almost 50 films, out of which more than half of them were selected and awarded at prestigious film festivals: Cannes, Locarno, Leipzig, Nyon, IDFA Amsterdam, Namur, Montpellier, Sarajevo, Trieste, Chişinău, Warsaw, Tampere. The latest accomplishment was reached by the short film
See You Soon’, directed by Andrei Răuțu, which this year was included in the official selection of the Cinema du Reel International Documentary Film Festival.
Starting with 2018, Aristoteles Workshop is organized in partnership with the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, the Theatre and Film Faculty and with cinepub.ro, the online platform, where Romanian films can be watched for free and legally, all over the world.
