48 short films will compete for the big trophy of the 26th edition of the Alter-Native International Short Film Festival which will take place from November 7 to 11, 2018, at the Tîrgu-Mureş Culture Palace.

Altogether 1050 productions from 70 countries were submitted: 624 fiction films, 159 documentaries, 147 animations and 120 experimental films. After a marathon screening, the pre-selection jury chose 48 short films (representing 24 countries) for the competition section. The list of the most appreciated creations includes 29 fiction films, 13 animations, 5 experimental films and one documentary.
The pre-selection jury was made of: Ármeán Otília, communication researcher, university lecturer at the Sapientia University, the Faculty of Technical and Humanist Sciences (Târgu Mureş), Durst György, producer (Hungary), Hartyándi Jenő, independent filmmaker, the director and artistic coordinator of the Mediawave Film and Music Festival (Hungary),
Radu Vasile Igazság, visual artist and director, university professor at the I.L.Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest, Schneider Tibor, director and cinematographer at the Romanian Television (Cluj-Napoca) and Marcel Ţintar, theatre and film director (Tîrgu-Mureş).
