Storyline

Cinema, Mon Amour follows the story of Victor Purice, manager, former cameraman and lifetime cinephile, and his two employees, Cornelia and Lorena, in their everyday battle to preserve Dacia Panoramic Cinema in Piatra Neamt, one of the last remaining movie theatres in Romania. Having lived through "the golden age" of the cinema industry, Viktor dreams of bringing back the good old glory days, yet struggles to keep up with the new and harsh reality. His attempt of maintaining alive a theatre that lacks heating and that is slowly falling apart, with no support from the State (the legal owner), resembles a Quixotic fight. Although Victor’s family has been living in Italy for the past 8 years, he refuses to join them because he can’t part with the place where he’s spent most of his life. Victor is certain that the moment he leaves, the theatre will be closed down and that it will end up just like the other Romanian theatres. (hbo.ro)
