Gruber’s Journey (2008)

On June 22nd 1941, Germany and Romania attacked the Soviet Union. Several days later, Curzio Malaparte, an Italian writer, a war correspondent for the newspaper “Corriere della Sera” arrives in Iaşi, on his way to the front. An allergy prevents him from leaving and he starts looking for dr. Gruber, a Jew allergologist who had studied in Florence. Malaparte can`t find him because the doctor us among the Jewish people deported by train, during the pogrom. The journalist and the Italian Consul in Iaşi confront the wish of the authorities to keep the silence.
