She made her film debut in 1977, when she was a high school student, with a part in Septembrie, directed by Timotei Ursu. Graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy in Bucharest (1983). She worked for five years as a teacher. She commuted daily from Alexandria to the school in Ţigăneşti.

From 1988 to 1990 she teaches Philosophy at a high school in Bucharest. Meanwhile, she plays  in Vacanţă tragică (1978) directed by Constantin Vaeni and in Duios Anastasia trecea (1979) directed by Alexandru Tatos. In 1980 she was awarded Best Actress at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival for her performance in the latter film. Her acting style is compared to that of Dan Nuţu. In December 1989 she took part in the street manifestations and joined the crowd at the national TV station, summoned by Sergiu Nicolaescu. She didn’t apply for a revolutionary certificate. In 1990 she gave up her teaching career and instead got involved in the production of several TV shows, which ended due to a conflict with Mihai Tatulici. She left the country in 1991 and married Daniel Ionescu, a Romanian man based in New York. She started working as a teacher in New York, after which she got divorced, remarried and changed her line of work.
