“Zavera” and “Lemonade”, Awarded at Sarajevo

     On August 16, Ioana Uricaru received the Heart of Sarajevo Award for Best Director, for Lemonade / Luna de miere, her feature directorial debut.
Shot mainly in the North America, Lemonade is inspired by a newspaper article and tells the story of a few tensioned days in Mara`s life, a nurse who is forced to confront her own projection of the American dream with the reality.
     Zavera, the latest project of the film director Andrei Gruzsniczki, received the TRT Award – CineLink Work in Progress Awards. Alexandru Teodorescu (Saga Film) is the film producer. The film watches Ștefan, a middle-aged man, who runs a construction business together with his life-long friend, Nic. After Nic`s suspect death, under the pressure of taking over the entire business, Ștefan has an existential crisis. The six days following Nic`s death, Ștefan gradually discovers all kinds of lies and small compromises regarding Nic, that he must confront in order to be able to adjust to his new life.
     The feature film competition of the Sarajevo Film festival also included Love 1: Dog / Dragoste 1: Câine (directed by Florin Șerban) and One and a Half Prince / Un prinț și jumătate (directed by Ana Lungu).
