Sophia Loren, special guest at Transilvania Film Festival (TIFF)

     Legend of the world cinema, unmistakable diva of the big screen and one of the most intensely celebrated beauties of the world, Sophia Loren will come for the first time in Romania as special guest of Transilvania International Film Festival (27 May – 5 June, 2016).

     Sex-symbol through ’50s - ‘70s, with an international popularity unequalled by any other Italian actress, Sophia Loren will be granted The Entire Career Award at the closing gala of the 15th Edition of the Festival, on 4 June, at the National Theatre in Cluj-Napoca. On 3 June, from 18.30, at the Student's Culture House, the actress will take part to a special screening in her honour.
     “It is one of those meetings I've been wishing for at TIFF for many years, and I am happy it finally happens. Sophia Loren is the idol of many generations, a tonic and charming presence, with a huge popularity in any corner of the world. It is an honour to have her at TIFF, and a great joy, hopefully, for Cluj residents to meet her at her first visit in Romania. She is thus joining a string of strong personalities who were celebrated over the 15 years of TIFF, from Claudia Cardinale, Annie Girardot, Vanessa Redgrave, to Catherine Deneuve and Geraldine Chaplin,” Tudor Giurgiu, Chairman of TIFF, stated.
     Sophia Loren's attendance of the Festival was made possible through the collaboration between TIFF and the Business Women Association (AFA) of Cluj, co-organiser of the event.
