One World Romania 10 Sections: “Political Animals”, “Against the Current” and “Ministry of Horror”

One World România announced the thematic sections of its 10th anniversary Edition, to be held on 13 and 14 March 2017.
The first section is called “Political Animals” and brings together films making an X-ray to what means being a politician, a simple voter, a victim or an accomplice to political changes. The documentary Difficult Choice brings us in the middle of the 2014 presidential campaign in Slovakia, and Weiner shows us how a campaign for Mayor of New York may go from success to disaster in a matter of moments. American Anarchist introduces us to William Powell, who has been analysing for over 40 years how his life got changed by an anarchist manifest published when he was 19 and sold in over 2 million copies. The documentary A German Life presents us Brunhilde Pomsel, the secretary, stenographer and typist of the infamous Minister of Propaganda of the Nazi era, Joseph Goebbels.
The second section presents those who go against the current, those who show no fear. These documentaries show individuals or small communities, smaller or larger organisations who fight all over the world against those who trace boundaries and put up walls. Here is the place for portraits of anti-ISIS women fighters of Kurdistan, of Chinese activist Ye Haiyan, the protagonist of the documentary Hooligan Sparrow or of several Iranian DJs in the film Raving Iran.
“Ministry of Horror” is the name of another section, whose films talk about the fear of being closely watched. The three documentaries included here are all solidly build arguments, demonstrations made with patience and lessons on civic lucidity. Everything Is Under Control is a comical documentary, slightly melancholy, on surveillance and the means the entire world is being supervised. Shadow World reveals the true costs of the perpetual war we are in, and the ways the weapon commerce at high level are feeding this war. The documentary All Governments Lie strives to discover what is left of the US independent investigation journalism, reuniting personalities such as Noam Chomsky, Carl Bernstein, Amy Goodman, Michael Moore, Glenn Greenwald and many others.
Other 5 sections are to be announced by the organisers of One World Romania Festival.
