“First Night” in the Orizzonti section of Venice Festival

Prima noapte/ First Night, written and directed by Andrei Tănase, is in the line-up for the Best Short Trophy granted by the Orizzonti section of the Venice Festival (31 August–10 September).
The film's plot is short, but its complications – multiple. Alex's birthday is drawing near, and his father, Călin, has prepared a very special surprise: his first night of love with a girl. The cast includes young actors Alfredo Minea and Cristiana Luca, alongside with Mimi Brănescu and Elvira Deatcu.
First Night is an independent short, made without the support of the National Filmmaking Centre (CNC). The screenplay was entered in 2014 to the two project contests organised by the CNC, but received no funding. The film is co-produced by Deutsche Exotik Filmproduktion GmbH, Libra Film Productions, Commitet and ARTE/ SWR Germany. In the same co-production formula, Andrei Tănase also directed Claudiu și crapii/Claudiu and the Fish (2014) and Vacanța la țară/Summer Break (2015). The film's cinematography is signed by Barbu Bălășoiu (Sieranevada).
