Over 150 Romanian filmmakers signed an open letter addressed to the management of the Romanian Film Centre and to the Ministry of Culture, Bogdan Gheorghiu, in which they contest
the decision to suspend
the calendar of the CNC contest, session II 2019.
“In the context in which the Romanian authorities find solutions to support the active population and to keep functioning all the fields of the economy (even at the almost lowest level), when all over the world the authorities allot supplementary funds for the film field, so that they may try to stop the total blockage and fall of the field, the Council of Administration of the Romanian Film Centre issued on March 26 2020, a decision which blocks all the operations that could be done remotely, in order to recover quickly to a normal activity after the restrictions period will be over. Moreover, the measure of suspending the payments for different activities generate a climate of uncertainty and induces a feeling of lack of interest from the tutelary authority regarding the real problems of the film industry.”
