”Lemonade”, by Ioana Uricaru, in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival New York

Lemonade / Luna de miere, Ioana Uricaru`s feature directorial debut. The film will be presented in the international competition, from April 18 to 29, 2018. The film was included on the “must-see” list o
f The New York Times, which presents the film as an immigration drama that reveals its entire complexity while the film goes towards the end. The director Ioana Uricaru maps the ups and downs that Mara (Mălina Manovici), a nurse from Romania, goes through while waiting to receive the green card. Lemonade is in competition alongside other 9 films, among which Amateurs by Gabriela Pichler, Dry Martina by Che Sandoval, The Night Eats the World by Dominique Rocher, or Virgins by Keren Ben Rafael. The film will have four screenings during the festival (April, 19, 20, 21 and 27).
Founded in 2001 by Robert de Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff after the attacks from September 11 in New York, the Tribeca Film Festival developed into an annual event dedicated to the cultural and economical evolution of the area, by gathering together international artists and directors. Tribeca is the second festival that Lemonade is part of, out of the over 20 festivals that the film was invited to, after the Berlinale. After the screening in Berlin, the Mobra Film production was bought in more than 10 countries, among which France, China or Canada. Lemonade is produced by Mobra Film, with the support of the Romanian Film Centre(CNC), co-produced by Peripheria (Canada), 42film (Germania)-Filmgate Films, Film i Väst (Sweden), made with the contribution of Eurimages and of Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, Société de développement des entreprises culturelles – Québec, Telefilm Canada and the MEDIA Creative Europe Program of the Europe Union. The film will be released in Romania this autumn and the distributor is Voodoo Films.
